This demanding two-year IB course provides students with a firm grounding in both the theoretical and practical sides of filmmaking.

IB Film is offered to Sixth Form students as one of their six subject options with the IB Diploma Programme. Recent graduates of IB Film at Markham have gone on to study at prestigious film schools (such as the NYU Tisch School of the Arts in New York City and the CLCF Conservatoire Libre Du Cinéma Français in Paris).

Every year the Film department showcases the works of these Sixth Form students at the newly formed Arts Collective show, which incorporates IB coursework in design & technology, art, drama, music and film

Film is also something pupils at Markham can choose for their extra-curricular activities; whether analysing classic movies from around the world, or taking part in small-scale film-making activities or competitions.

Our overall aim at Markham is to establish film and film-making as a key element of the school's curriculum. Discussions are under-way about film and the dramatisation of classic literary texts as an important role in the teaching of IGCSE literature courses in Secondary 3 and Secondary 4.
